But before you start your online application as an applicant I will like to tell you more about the Nigerian Air Force and its humble beginnings.
THE NIGERIAN AIR FORCE
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is one of the arms of the Nigerian Armed forces. It is considered as the air arm of the armed forces and it is one of the largest in Africa consisting of about 15,000 personnel.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) was established on April 18, 1964 with the passage of the air force act 1964 by the Nigerian national assembly. The NAF was formed with technical assistance from Germany. It started life as a transport unit with aircrew being trained in Canada, Ethiopia and India. The head of the then German Air Force Assistance Group (GAFAG) was Colonel Gerhard Kahtz and he later became the first commander of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). Funny enough, The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) did not get a combat capability until a number of Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 aircraft were presented by the Soviet Union during the Nigerian Civil War.
THE NIGERIAN AIR FORCE (NAF) COMMANDS
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) consists of five commands which includes;
- Tactical Air Command with headquarters in Makurdi.
- Special Operations Command with headquarters in Bauchi
- Mobility Command with headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state
- Training Command with headquarters in Kaduna and
- Logistics Command with headquarters in Lagos.
THE NIGERIAN AIR FORCE (NAF) HEADQUARTERS
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is currently structured along a service Headquarters with six principal staff branches, four Direct Reporting Units and 4 operational commands. The Nigerian Air Force Headquarters (HQ NAF) is responsible for establishing long and short term mission objectives and articulating policies, plans and procedures for the attainment of the policies. It also liaises with the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy on joint operational policies and plans.
You should also be aware that the Nigerian Air Force Headquarter (HQ NAF) consists of the Chief of the Air Staff and eight staff branches namely;
- Policy and Plans Branch
- Operations Branch
- Air Engineering Branch
- Logistics Branch
- Administration Branch
- Account and Budget Branch
- Inspections Branch and
- Air Secretary Branch
Each of these branches is headed by a Branch Chief with an establishment rank of Air vice Marshal. All this is to aid you in case you are shortlisted for an interview.

- You must be an SSCE/WASSCE holder at least
